Original wallpaper paste was made from wheat flour because the gluten, when mixed with water, formed a plant-protein glue that glued the wallpaper to the wall. Barley flour, on the other hand, is unsuitable for wallpaper paste becuase it is gluten-free and the wallpaper will fall off the wall.

People who are "overcomers" are 'less attached' to their sin and are like gluten-free Barley; whereas people who are 'more attached' to their sin are like Wheat containing gluten and need to be 'tribulated' to become detached from their sin.
