Daniel 9:27 has Dual Fulfillment (Part 2)
Daniel 9:27 has Dual Fulfillment (Part 1) Please read first.
I believe Daniel 9:27 has dual fulfillment. The First fulfillment was by the Lord Jesus Christ during His First Advent and the Second fulfillment is at the end of this age by the Antichrist.
Part 1 showed how the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the 'new covenant' of Jeremiah 31:31-34 that Daniel was praying about when the angel Gabriel arrived. Daniel 9:27 is contained in Gabriel's answer to Daniel's prayer.
Dan 9:24-27 (KJV) 'Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.'In Daniel 9:24, God's answer to Daniel's prayer gives Six coming accomplishments. The initial Three of which were fulfilled by Christ during His First Advent. 1) 'to finish the transgression, 2) to make an end of sins, 3) to make reconciliation for iniquity.' These three were accomplished by Christ at Calvary, when He confirmed the 'new covenant' (Jer 31:31-34) with His own blood. The second set of Three accomplishments will be fulfilled at Christ's Second Advent at the end of this age. 4) 'to bring in everlasting righteousness, 5) to seal up the vision and prophecy, 6) to anoint the most Holy' (Place, i.e. the Millennial Temple).
Now, regarding the Antichrist:
Daniel 9:27 'And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.'
The Antichrist will also fulfill Daniel 9:27 at the end of this age. He will make a 'covenant' with the 'many', cause Jewish worship to 'cease', commit the 'abomination of desolation' and to the 'consummation' of the age will pour death and persecution upon the 'desolate' who will not worship him or take his mark.
Other scriptures regarding the Antichrist confirm this:
Dan 12:10-11 'Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.'
Matt 24:15 'When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand).'
Matt 24:21 'For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.'
2 Thess 2:4 'Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.'
Rev 13:3-10 'And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast (Antichrist). And they worshipped the dragon (Satan) which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.'
Rev 13:15-18 'And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.'
