"Re: 5768 - 5769 (Hebrew year)"

Good morning John and Doves,

I’m abit confused regarding the changeover of the Hebrew year 5768 to 5769.

According to Exodus 12:2 the LORD told Moses and Aaron the following:

“This month [shall be] unto you the beginning of months: it [shall be] the first month of the year to you.”

This was the time of Passover and therefore the 1st of Nisan was determined by YHWH as the beginning of the year. Notice that the Torah didn’t make mentioned that the seventh month be called anything else but the seventh month.

Wikipedia has this to say: “While the bible designates this month (without calling it Nisan) as the first month of the year, Rosh Hashanah, which is literally "The Head of the Year", meaning "The Beginning of the Year", is actually celebrated on the first of the seventh month, currently called Tishrei, so most Jews today view Tishrei as the de facto beginning of the year. Although there are references to this holiday in the Torah, it was not then regarded as the beginning of the year, but more as a Holiday for reflection and remembrance.

Now dear Doves, this is where my problem lies. Hypothetically, as YHWH (ABBA Father) has changed the beginning of the year for a purpose (which I believe because of His Son – Passover) and have never changed it after that, then what are we to follow to be in par with His Time table?

Meaning just as Ben Nahm stated in his note dated 29 Sept 2008, on the five doves, where he stated that “the war mentioned in the Torah Code may well be fulfilled by October 21, 2008, as we’re still in the year 5768 until that date.”

He mentioned that the Feast of Sukkoth (Tabernacles) ending on October 20/21 2008, does that mean that the Hebrew year 5768 hasn’t ended yet, and that it might end in the month of Adar?

What makes it more confusing that The Pentacodes mentioned that the rapture will happen just after 5768 – 2008, but then that eliminates a First Fruit rapture 5769 – 2009 (Nisan).

To indicate 5768 – 2008 means that it is referring to the sighting of the new moon on Rosh HaShanah and not moving further than October.

Doves, any thoughts on this please?

Shana Tova
