Shalom, Doves!
The late Kathryn Kuhlman once wrote that the best scientists are those who 'surrender to the evidence'. Other than a spiritual 'knowing' that Yeshua is Messiah, we have The Word, 66 books of the Bible to testify to this. In other words, we have the evidence of scripture as well as the evidence of Faith as described in Hebrews 11:1; we have two sources of evidence in which to surrender ourselves, two witnesses, so to speak.
The answer to the question of the earth axial tilt, two witnesses are offered for all of you as follows. Let us always be like the Boreans examining scripture for ourselves.
Test One
Direct Observation
We are very near the Equinox which is on
September 23rd. On that day, the earth is in a place in its orbit
around the sun so there are 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night
no matter what the axial tilt (hence 'equi-nox' meaning equal night).
On that day the sun is directly overhead
at the equator, Zero degrees latitude.
You can find your latitude, and practice for directly
measuring the axial tilt yourself by making a simple astrolabe using a
protractor, soda straw, string and paper clip for a weight. (see image
attached)
P.S. Rather than looking directly at the sun through the straw, project the image of the sun on an index card held behind the straw; i.e., the card replaces your eye and line of 'sight'. Also, the angle you read against the string on the protractor is the supplement of the sun angle. 90 degrees less this recorded angle = sun angle above the horizon.
Since the sun is directly overhead AT THE
EQUATOR on 23 September,
if you measure the sun angle above the horizon at noon,
your time zone time
on that day, and subtract THIS from 90 degrees, this
will correspond to your latitude. (Think North or South Pole: The
sun would be right on the horizon, at noon on that day, Zero degrees above
it; 90 less 0 = 90 degrees North or South Pole)
If you live in Vancouver, BC, for example, you
will measure the sun angle to be about 41 degrees above the horizon, meaning
your latitude is 49 degrees N.
(90 less 41 = 49 degrees)
Fast forward to December 21st. (Remember, In the Southern Hemisphere our brother and sisters in Messiah experience the first day of SUMMER on that date!)
Take your astrolabe and measure the sun angle, again at noon time (remember to adjust one hour if you are in a locale that uses 'daylight savings time').
What is different about the sun angle at noon on 21 December? In the Northern Hemisphere it is lower than your measurement on 23 September. How MUCH lower?
Those in Vancouver will now measure a sun angle
much less than 41 degrees.
How much less? If there is no change in current
axial tilt, 23.5 degrees less.
41 less 23.5 = 17.5 degrees or about 18 degrees above the horizon.
What If the earth has slipped an additional 26 degrees?
At noon on December 21st, our brothers and sisters in Vancouver will be in the dark, the sun will be below their horizon all day! In fact, they will have experienced total dark days even before 21 December.
Test 2
Check the 'scriptures' Sunrise, Sunset times
If the axial tilt has changed dramatically
since last December, this would already show up in Sunrise/Sunset times
in any region. Check your almanacs.
Go back in time twenty or thirty years and check the
same days for sunrise, sunset times. (The variance should be minor taking
into account leap years).
It would be interesting to see these results!
It is also a reminder that whenever we are presented
with a 'new teaching',
it is good to have two witnesses to its authenticity.
One may be our own spirit hearing from the Ruach HaKodesh, and another,
scripture itself. In the end times, even the elect may be deceived.
Let us keep our eyes firmly on Messiah
and be continually immersed in The Word so we are certain
be safe!
