Ethiopia, which did not change her calendars like the rest of the world just celebrated their new year on September 12th.  Since they didn’t change their calendars it was the year 2000.  Obviously, it is believed that Christ would return in 2000 years.

I find this scripture of interest in conjunction with this:

Matthew 12: 42 The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

The Queen of the South mentioned here is the Queen of Sheba which refers to Ethiopia (I believe).

Also, in Acts in the passage where Phillip is raptured after he baptizes the Ethiopian Unich in Acts 8:27 Queen Candace of Ethiopia is mentioned.

Also, it has been rumored for some time that the Ark of the Covenant may be hidden in Ethiopia.
