Many people are familiar with the amazing number 153, often referred to as the Jesus number, and the number of fish in the amazing catch recorded in John 21:11:Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. However, many do not realize it has connections with the beginnings of our own Christian Calendar. Originally, our calendar which has Roman roots, began in March. This is still evident by the names of the months September, October, November, and December which respectively mean 7th month, 8th month, 9th month, and 10th month. And that February which came at the end, made up the difference for the calendar to match the sun by either having 28 or 29 months. If you count up the number of days in what were the first five months, March through July, one comes to the number 153. If one then counts up the number of days in what were the next five months, August through December, one also comes to the number 153. And guess when the first month of the year was changed from March to January? 153 B.C.!Shalom!
