"Jim Bramlett's post - the
7 Atonement Blessing"
I agree with Mr. Bramlett - from what I am seeing
on Christian TV (not all), but many of them are hopping on this bandwagon
of totally anti-scriptural ways of trying to squeeze people for more and
more money to finance their expensive television air-time. I can't begin
to say how many times I hear the pastor or program director say basically
send US or send ME a donation and God will bless you. What kind of Christianity
is that? I believe in tithing to my local church, but my local church does
not uses these bizarre tactics that I am seeing the TV evangelistic programmers
using.
Everything from "blessing" handkerchiefs and basically
SELLING THEM to selling bottles of "holy water". E.g. "prosper me and God
will prosper you," ad nauseum! ENOUGH already! Jesus was humble,
his disciples were humble and lived simply. Many of these big TV evangelists
live in multi-million-dollar complexes (yes complexes --not homes- I am
thinking of ONE in particular out in Texas) and they are constantly flashing
an assortment of diamond rings and other jewels and gems before the cameras
- or the women speakers literally "talk with their hands" and they look
like what they are doing is "talking" with their 3" long sculptured fingernails.
I can't imagine what God thinks of all this that is being
done in HIS name.
