Dear brother, Jan!Try not to worry, you will be fine. My precious Richard has had two quadruple bypasses and a triple bypass, and 13 angioplasties with stents! Technology is SO very different than it used to be, and heart surgeons are awesome now! You might talk to your surgeon about doing laser surgery.
On Richard’s first bypass, they had to break his clavicle and pull it wide open, remove his heart from his chest, hook up the heart & lung machine to keep the blood flowing correctly, place the heart on a counter where he and two other surgeons worked on it, place it back into Richard’s chest, unhook the h&l machine and hook his arteries back up, then usually use the paddles to shock the heart back into beating on its own, and sew the wound closed with piano wire. Richard’s started immediately the instant the arteries were hooked back up, but his surgeon told me that is HIGHLY unusual! The piano wire caused SEVERE arthritic pains in Richard until surgery number two.
On Richard’s second bypass (January 2006… two arteries had become blocked BENEATH where they’d done the first bypass!), his surgeon shot 40 perforations into Richard’s heart with a laser gun to keep the blood flowing like it should, plus they did the cutting and sealing with the laser this time, removing the piano wire from the first surgery.
On his third bypass (December 30, 2005), they performed laser surgery again, and even did a little plastic surgery on the other scars. He’s feeling great now, for the first time in EONS!!!
So you see how far technology has come, and how much simpler bypasses are these days. So try not to worry overly, brother! I will add you to my Prayers for Illness page, and look forward to seeing your posts again soon on 5 Doves!
Love to you in Him!
Peggy
