"To Daniel Matson on New Moon"

I get the Karaite newsletter, and in Israel they did not see the new
moon on the l2th, even in a clear sky.  Therefore, the evening of the
new month automatically gets put off one day to Thursday, the l3th.
That means that Rosh Hashana 2007 starts Thursday evening and extends
into Friday the l4th and Saturday the l5th.

This is by the Karaite reckoning.  The Talmudic Jews are celebrating
the eve of Rosh Hashana a day before this, starting tonight, the l2th,
and extending through Friday the l4th.  Most American Jews are
celebrating it tonight, l2th.
