"A reversal of prophecy fulfillment?"
Dear friends:
Is it possible for prophecy fulfillment to be reversed, or undone?
Sounds strange doesn't it? But consider the below.
Jesus said, "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as
its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is
near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that
it is near, right at the door" (Matthew 24:32-33, NIV).
The fig tree is generally acknowledged from various Scriptures to be the
physical nation of Israel (whereas the olive tree is spiritual Israel,
which includes saved Gentiles). Many Bible students, including
myself, believe the fig tree began to sprout its leaves in the 1967
Six-Day War when Israel acquired Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, Gaza,
the West Bank, and the Golan Heights.
Those real estate acquisitions in 1967 were no doubt major prophecy
fulfillments.
Now, since 1967, are we seeing reverse prophecy fulfillment by a
secular Israel?
1. The first prophecy reversal came in 1967 when Israeli General
Moishe Dayan almost immediately gave away the Temple Mount to the Arabs,
causing endless problems. Now there is even talk of Israel agreeing
to divide Jerusalem to placate the terrorists.
2. Since then, also to placate the terrorists, we have seen Gaza
returned to the Arabs, causing increasing problems and attacks.
3. To placate the terrorists, we are also seeing Israeli
willingness to return most of the West Bank to the Arabs.
4. There is even talk in Israel about giving up the Golan Heights,
to placate the terrorists and Syria.
What's wrong with this picture? We are seeing prophecy in reverse
by secular Israel, if that is possible. And if so, what does God
think about it?
Of course, God is never caught by surprise, and He knew all this in
advance, just as He knew in advance that Adam and we would sin. But
that doesn't mean it is His perfect will, or that there are not
consequences.
I don't think He is happy with all this reversal and I believe Israel
will pay a heavy price for agreeing to give away the covenant land God
restored to them. And nations pressuring Israel to divide the land
will also pay a heavy price. You can see the dark storm clouds
rapidly gathering.
May God have mercy on Israel and bring peace to Jerusalem with the return
of the Prince of Peace, her only hope.
