Another point just to add to what you have so eloquently summarized is that at the mount of transfiguration, when Moses and Elijah are talking with Christ, Peter wants to make tents.  He comment is kind of a strange one in my opinion...it wasn't the season for tabernacles (or was it?)  Maybe it is a clue that the Lord left for those who are watching.  Just a thought.
