WORMWOOD FALLING FROM THE SKY?

(Rev. 8: 11) And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

A meteorite or fireball fell from the sky and hit the ground in southern Peru near a remote Andean village, causing a gigantic crater that was at least 100’ x 20’ deep and had a bubbling pool of water at the bottom of it!

Meteorites falling from the sky are not unheard of but this one has something very different about it.  Once the meteorite fell,  creating a crater, an awful smell came up from the hole in the ground that sickened more than 600 people! Gases coming from the crater caused nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, stomach pain, irritated throats and itching noses, to the point that authorities were considering calling a state of emergency.  Several policemen had to be hospitalized.  Villagers are not drinking the water in the area because they regarded it as contaminated in the wake of the impact.  The giant hole caused by the meteorite’s impact would no doubt have left sulfur and other elements that may have reacted with the ground water, producing noxious fumes. 

 

IS THE CHURCH BEING DECEIVED? YOU BET!!!

I usually don’t get shocked when I hear that there are strange goings-on in the churches, having been around “Charismania” for 35 years, so I’ve seen all the oddities come and go. Today I stand on record as saying-“Now I really am shocked!”  By what you might ask? The state of outright deception that believers are swallowing-hook-line and sinker with very little protest! In fact, a few that have been in ministry for many years are now being deceived by some weird “itching ears” doctrine being marketed as Godly today.

I got a call today about a few articles printed in the October issue of Charisma Magazine, which put the correct spin on this bit of nonsense and made no comments concerning the second- to their shame.  I guess I must have been hiding my head in the sand somewhere, being mainly focused on the news, and the Bible, and not keeping up with what is on Christian Television.  

For instance, I DID NOT KNOW that Christians were now being told that you NEED TO (legalism)* bring an offering for the Jewish high holy day of Yom Kippur, or Atonement Day.  Now being a Jew, I know what Jews who do not know the Lord do, but I was unaware that as a believer the newest thing out is that we too must now bring an offering to impress the Lord!   Benny Hinn and Steve Munsey among others are now pushing Christian “ATONEMENT OFFERINGS!” It has been suggested that God demands offerings to be made during a Jewish holiday to secure God's blessings!  

Munsey promises that if we do bring an offering, (to him of course) that we can be assured that the Lord will  “unleash the seven supernatural atonement blessings” that are promised in Joel: Double Portion, Financial Abundance, Restoration, Miracles, God’s Divine Presence, Blessings Upon Your Family, and Deliverance. Now if you send old Stevie your offering, you will receive your wonder!  

Since the Bible has made it clear that Jesus is the final sacrifice and that if we believe in Him, well then He ALONE is our FINAL ATONEMENT OFFERING!  As I recall, Jesus died ONCE for all as our PERMANENT atonement offering, we need not bring anything to Him but our willingness to believe, be obedient and to accept what He alone could accomplish on our behalf.   J. Lee Grady, editor of Charisma wrote an interesting article on the atonement offering called, “A Subtle Deception”. He rightly discerned the alarming aspects of buying into these grace plus- atonement offerings.

He also made comments concerning misguided believers becoming proponents of an old lie called the “Dual Covenant Theory.”  This is ETHNIC Salvation! It seems that the well-meaning but misguided Evangelical Christians just love Israel and the Jews soooo much that they have decided that they really don’t need Jesus after all, God lets them into the kingdom by their good works within the structure of law keeping in modern and bloodless Judaism. Jews are saved by being Jews, then by keeping laws, observing Sabbaths, making sacrifices, being circumcised, etc. ( Rom. 2:25-29). If this were true then the Pharisees, Sadducees Saul of Tarsus would have all been saved just by being Jewish!

So now we can be saved by the mere virtue of our ethnic heritage as the chosen people!! Now this is not a theory I can find anyplace in my Bible! If Jesus DID NOT COME FOR ISRAEL- HE DID NOT COME FOR ANYONE! Gentiles who think they honor God and the Jews by this do a tremendous disservice to their salvation!  I saw this with the Christian Embassy when I was in Jerusalem several years back.  We should just love the Jews (we do of course) but not witness because the name of Jesus is an affront. They have their own way to God and don’t need to believe in Jesus, (they most certainly do!) Grady says that believers who find another way to heaven for the Jewish people outside of Jesus have become,” misguided, unbalanced and unhealthy.”  As Grady points out- “There is rich prophetic meaning in prayer shawls, Passover Seders, Shofars, the Day of Atonement and many other Jewish traditions found in Scripture. But we must remember that these things are meant to point to Jesus Christ. He must be our focus. If we allow traditions or rituals to replace Him, then we are guilty of idolatry.”  Grady points out that this will lead to universal salvation, all are saved regardless of religious beliefs or relationship with the Living God.  He says, and I agree that this idea is absolutely at “odds with the core message of the gospel—which tells us that all people, Jew and Gentile alike, can find salvation only through Jesus the Messiah.”

 

HERE IS THE SHOCKER!!

In another Charisma article, “The Truth About Haunted Houses,” Mark A. Pearson says:

“Many Spirit-filled pastors and Bible teachers throughout the church speculate (believe) a reason for “unquietness” (ghosts in houses,) “is the presence of the souls of unsaved people who died  without being commended to the Lord. “They believe their souls are trapped here until someone tells them to go to God for their eternal fate. They're not demons trying to harm us or spirits trying to enter into a relationship with us, but souls seeking our help to be freed from being trapped on earth”. Mark believes loved ones can appear just once to assure their families of their afterlife!

Pearson goes on to say that he is in the ‘ministry’ of holding funerals to pray for and release these “trapped spirits!” He said these trapped souls are not demons (because they won’t leave at the name of Jesus), nor is conducting these services the summoning evil spirits. He mentions other examples of paranormal occurrences, which he attributes to these lost souls waiting for him or other like-minded ministers  to show up and release them! ( the familiar spirits) 

He also mentions that Charismatics and Pentecostals know there are many things that do happen that are not mentioned in the Bible, (i.e. altar calls), so therefore, spirits showing up and needing to be released doesn’t violate a word that isn’t there! Shades of necromancy- this is published without a caveat! All I can say is- WOW! Come Lord Jesus before more are deceived!
