MESSAGE FROM A BOG NOT A BLOG (PSALM 83)

'Psalm in a bog' linked to Israel's current war (World Net Daily 26 July 2006)

In this letter I would like to briefly return to the manuscript found quite miraculously in an Irish bog just over a year ago, and opened to Psalm 83.  I am aware that there is conjecture that the Psalm may be ‘out of order’ and may actually be Psalm 84, but either way the find drew attention to what may be (should the Lord tarry) an imminent and brief yet devastating war in the Middle East.

An excerpt from the WND article states:  “The bog find was heralded by the museum on Tuesday, one day after a call for global prayer on behalf of Israel. Psalm 83 was one of three psalms recited at locations worldwide Tuesday at the request of the governing council of Israel's Chief Rabbinate.”

First some excerpts from this well known Psalm (Amplified):  “Keep not silence O God.. Your enemies are in tumult...those who hate You have raised their heads..They lay crafty schemes against Your people and against your hidden and precious ones.  Come and let us wipe them out as a nation.  Let the name of Israel be in remembrance no more.”

Thanks to a good article on www.bible411.com it is possible to identify these enemies, although I’m sure that other doves have better insight:  Palestinians, Jordan, Lebanon, part of Iraq and Saudi Arabia and Syria (but not Iran - not directly anyway!).

Verse 11 highlights the role of the weather in God’s strategies - especially the incredible thunderstorm that bogged Sisera.  The Psalmist goes on to pray for the weather to come to intervene and includes these interesting words (Amplified) that could refer to the United States:  verse 15  “Afflict then with Your tempest and terrify them with Your tornado or hurricane.”

Why?  The answer is in verse 12 those ‘Who say Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God!’  The two State policy supported by Bush/Rice is wrong on two counts - that it overrides the national sovereignty of Israel, but more importantly that it flies in the face of God’s sovereignty and His Word!  This is dangerous ground – interesting that this message from the bog contains, and as far as I am aware uniquely, this reference to tornados or hurricanes Dangerous ground!

We would do well to take notice of this ancient message brought to light in our time.
PS  In Australia we have just finished the Asian Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) which was held in Sydney and this went well.  There were leaders from 21 countries including China (Hu), Russia (Putin) and George Bush.  An historic meeting, at lease for a land down unda!
