Prayer Points for the United States of America

• Pray for a safe trip home for President Bush as he returns to the U.S. from Australia on September 10.
• As America marks the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, pray that we would not forget the lessons of those attacks. 
• Intercede for the spiritual state of our nation, asking the Lord to use the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks to draw us closer to Him.
• Give thanks to the Lord that we have not suffered an attack on our soil since 9/11.  Ask the Lord to continue offering His hand of protection.
• Lift up the Department of Homeland Security and all other agencies involved in the efforts to protect our nation from terrorist attacks.  Ask the Lord to give them wisdom and discernment as they perform their duties.
• Pray for President Bush as he seeks a person to fill the position of U.S. Attorney General.
• Give praise and thanks to God for the release of 12 Korean hostages held by the Taliban.
• Pray that Americans would heed the admonition offered in 2 Chronicles 7:14:  "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
• Pray that millions of Americans would accept Christ as their Savior in the coming weeks.
• Pray for the portions of the southeastern U.S. that are experiencing severe drought; ask the Lord to bring much-needed rain to those areas.
• Lift up the people and areas that are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Ask God to abundantly meet their needs.
• Ask the Lord to protect our nation from these hurricanes during the remainder of the 2007 season.
• Continue to pray for those impacted by the recent flooding in both the Southwest and Midwest.  Ask the Lord to comfort the those who have been displaced by the floods as well as the families of those who were killed.  Ask the Lord to prevent future flooding in the impacted areas.
• Pray that President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would seek and follow the Lord's guidance as they make decisions that impact the future of our nation.
• Ask the Lord to restore of spirit of civility to our nation's political process.  Pray that leaders and activists in all political parties would work put the good of the nation ahead of their own political agendas and ambitions.
• Pray that our nation's leaders would make wise decisions regarding the war in Iraq.  Pray that political candidates and leaders would resist the urge to divide our nation by using the war as a wedge issue.  Pray that they would instead work together to develop the wisest course of action in Iraq.
• Intercede for our troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and throughout the world.  Ask the Lord to comfort, protect and guide them.
• Continue to pray that godly candidates would emerge as leaders in the 2008 presidential race.
• Pray that Christians throughout America and the world would model Christ's love and live lives of integrity and honor.
