"Christopher Columbus"

I believe there are some things to look at in American history that may be helpful.  I believe that the United States of America is the gentile nation that is matched up with Israel to be a light to the nations.  That said, there may be significant dates and models we can look to.

One person I’m taking a look at is Columbus.  If you read his journals he felt he was directly taught and inspired by the Holy Spirit (his words!) to sail to a New World.  He had to get funding and approval from a King and Queen and risked much in his plight.  It certainly took a lot of faith.  I’m only beginning on this search, and with as much talk that is going on fivedoves about November – I thought I’d do my part.  If we work together maybe we can put a puzzle together, or at least sharpen some iron together in the war!

November is an interesting month.  I still believe and am looking at the Feast of Tabernacles as a possible date, or of something significant happening.  I do think it’s worth noting that before Jesus came the first time, Hanukkah came about which did not land on a Jewish Feast day and started a new celebration altogether.  Also, in Esther which is Jews living amongst Gentiles and a book many have mentioned as a rapture model, a new feast came about – Purim.  So, I try and have a very open mind and keep digging.  Thanksgiving is our great feast which was to Thank God.  There are many great accounts of this taking place in the New World.  Thanksgiving takes place in November!

Here is a start on Columbus:

During the first month and a half the voyage went well, as the three vessels were propelled by highly favorable winds.  Then, between the 20th and 30th of September, the winds turned bad and trailed off into doldrums.  The fearful crews of all three ships began to grumble their doubts concerning their commanders.  Columbus himself must have  started to consider how it was one thing to believe in such enlightened ideas as a round earth, yet quite another to stake one’s life on the notion.  Certainly, he came to realize that he had seriously miscalculated transoceanic distances.  He began to keep two log books – one, for the benefit of the crew, containing fictitious computations of distances, and another, for his own records, consisting of accurate figures.  Despite this deception, the crews of all three ships verged on mutiny by the second week in October.

October 12, 1492 the Santa Maria lookout sighted land.

Now if that doesn’t remind you of our Rapture search and journey I don’t know what would!  Embarking on a mysterious and dangerous journey.  Staking our lives on the notion, miscalculating distances.

I am looking into all kinds of things.  Anyone wanting to jump in – feel free!

Blessings,

Tony Ellsworth
