Doves,I’m sure many of you experience much of what I do when possible Rapture dates come and go. Huge disappointment and a feeling of being “left behind”. Somehow I missed the bus! How did it happen???
Well, it’s tough to stand watch and keep waiting. There is a voice that says “just give up, it’s never going to happen and you are not worthy anyway”. This surely is the voice of Satan.
Yes it may not happen when we think, or even how we think. God does know our hearts. He appreciates that we are trying our best to carry out his words to “watch, wait and anticipate”. The only thing that can be bad about this is when we build up some pride into our studies. This is easy to do since we are all human and have pride and sin still woven into us. I must admit I am susceptible as anyone to this horrible heartset and mindset. It is a humbling experience to be wrong and admit you are wrong.
However, here is some thoughts to offset this. God didn’t miss the boat, and neither did you. God is Sovereign and he is love in everything. I think of Job which I believe has some deep insight in Spiritual things (we get to look right into the throne room of heaven at the beginning!), and also the Rapture. Job wants to “argue things out with God” as he is going through trials that he can’t figure out. Different than us, his book wasn’t yet written and he didn’t know what Satan was saying to God. We do and it’s for our lesson. God when he finally does address Job, asserts his Sovereignty completely.
Satan wants us to give up and discourage us. We likely will not figure out everything about he Rapture. I think of the book of Habakkuk chapter 1 where God says “Even if I told you in advance you wouldn’t believe me”. Here are some quick thoughts on the some major miracles in the Bible:
The flood (it had never rained before)
The parting of the Red Sea, and bringing back over Egyptian armies
Raising of the deadThere are so many miracles to talk about. Who can really picture a Rapture. Flying, disappearing, Jesus…it is all so unbelievable. Even the most unflappable faith can’t really picture it completely.
Never fear, though disappointment sets in as times come and pass, God is Sovereign and Love. Though it linger wait for it. An angel had to fight 21 days to get to Daniel. Job didn’t know about the arrangement in Heaven either. God requires faith and perseverance. Remember the promise of Philadelphia and our 11th hour really never is God’s, just hang on. His time has not passed and neither has yours. Doves…God has called us all for such a time as this, or you wouldn’t be reading and/or posting at this website.
Thanks John for posting everything for us.
Blessings,
Tony Ellsworth
