There was once a professor at Oxford University who was a Christian man
with several sons. In his home a time was set aside for family worship
every day. One of his sons was a "black sheep" who always made excuses
for not joining in. This son eventually had enough, collected his things,
took some of his father's money, and left a note, saying, "I am not
willing to be your son."First, he stayed in a big hotel. But when his money dwindled, he moved to
a friend's home. This didn't last long, and soon he ended up in a small
hotel until his money was completely gone. When he became hungry and
cold, and without shelter, he thought of returning home. But he was too
ashamed to return during the daytime; so he waited till after midnight. He thought of climbing in through a window, but they were all locked. Out
of desperation he tried the front door. As he pushed, it opened with
ease, for it was not latched. He thought he was very lucky, and
cautiously moved toward his bedroom. To his surprise, when he opened the
door, his father was sitting in a chair facing the door. He was so
startled he instantly blurted out: "How careless, . . . the front door
is not locked!" At this word, his father removed his spectacles, took
hold of his son's hand and said: "My son, since the day you left home
until now, for over a year, the front door has not been latched."Surely this expressed his father's heart. In over a year, not once had
that door been latched. What a demonstration of that father's love.But have you noticed the latch on heavens door? It is not on the inside;
it is on the outside of the door. Sooo great is the Father's love!YBIC,
