"Steve Mullin and the seven mountains"

I’ve always found it interesting that so many people are ready to make a literal interpretation of the seven mountains (thinking that the seven mountains in Revelation 17:9 are actually seven mountains somewhere on the earth).  We don’t interpret the seven-headed beasts as an actual animal with seven heads.  In this regard I am drawn to the meaning of the term mountain in one of the prophesies of Daniel.  In Daniel 2:35, the stone cut out without hands, becomes a great “mountain” which fills the whole earth.  In Daniel 2:44 we find that the “mountain” is symbolic of a kingdom; God’s kingdom in this case.  Whereas the prophecy of Daniel is so directly connected to the prophecy of Revelation, would it be more appropriate in evaluating the seven mountains of Revelation 17:9 to look for seven kingdoms rather that for seven literal mountains somewhere on this planet?

hm…
