"Re: Jim Bramlett 'This takes the cake'"

I have to agree that this verse, taken as an anti-rapture proof, is totally out of context and strained beyond credibility....however, as a firm believer in Scripture, as a whole, pointing towards a single return of the Lord Jesus, the conqueror of the world, I know there are far better verses to prove this.  Claiming to be anti-rapture is an entirely un-Biblical stance; there will be a conversion of those alive into glorified bodies whilst meeting Jesus in the air, to be part of His victorious army over the antichrist.

I'm convinced that if we let Scripture speak for itself without trying to make portions fit a particular pre-held view on the rapture, the overwhelming evidence (but, true enough, still disputable in a few verses), outwardly stated and not inferred, is for a single rapture at the end of the antichrist's rule on Earth.  At least that's how I understand the Jews and early church would have interpreted OT scripture.

I am a keen reader of this site, whilst not holding a pre-Trib view, which offers up a wealth of study and prophecy, and have been following the 2032 return of Jesus posts closely.  Personally, I hold to idea that the OT (especially the Torah portion) gives us a shadow of God's fulfillment plans in the New.  As such I like the take on Exodus 19:10-11where God gives the Israelites 2 days to cleanse themselves before He meets with them in their full view on day 3.  The clock started ticking on the 1000 year 'days' on the cross when Jesus cried 'It is finished' and ushered in the church age circa 27 AD (if He died aged 33 and was born around 6-4 BC), then we have until 2027 or so to 'cleanse' ourselves with the washing of the Word.  I love the way God tells us to keep watch for the season of Jesus's return, since the permutations of Hebrew, Gregorian and Julian calendars mapped out in solar or real years give us a flexible array of possibilities as to how long 2 divine days are.  I do believe if we focus on hard dates, we've taken our eyes off the Lord and on to an 'idol' of His absolute second advent.  That said, I think the global technology and political will for an anti-christ figure to arise after 2020 is more fitting than 2006/7, but one nuclear exchange changes all the rules instantly, so I'll just take each day as a new opportunity to know my Maker better and love my family more.

I hope I'm not sounding antagonistic, and I don't expect much support but, for what it's worth, I find your posts stimulating and helpful, Jim.  It's good to be challenged on our understanding of Scripture, and the fellow you quoted certainly needed challenging!
