The Invisible Things of Him (created Friday, April 12, 2002)

The picture below depicts the visible light spectrum as it is diffracted into its colored components.  We were taught in school that light is diffracted into seven colors as it is passes through a prism; those colors were easily remembered by the letters of the fictitious character known as ROY G. BIV, which stood for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.  Over the course of the years if a student continues to pursue the study of physics, he learns more about the visible light spectrum, including that it is only a small part of the total Electromagnetic Spectrum of which Gamma Rays, X-rays, Ultraviolet Rays, Infra-red Rays, and Radio "Rays" (Waves) are all separate components.  He also learns how to quantify its "wavelength and frequency".  This article is intended to point out a few interesting relationships between the part of God's creation that we call "light" and His chronological plan for the ages.  The interrelationships are quantitative in “nature”, but also relate to Scriptural imagery whose terminology fell from His own lips.  Romans 1:20 tells us, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…"  Genesis 1:3 teaches that God created light on the first day, even before there was a solar light source, which was created upon the fourth day in Genesis 1:16.

Scientific notation in faint white lettering appears at the top of the picture to denote the position of visible light in the electromagnetic spectrum and at the bottom of the picture to denote the wavelength of each of the colored constituents of the visible spectrum, i.e. 4x10-7 meters denotes the threshold of visibility where the most intense shade of Violet begins to enter the spectrum from the Ultraviolet region and 7x10-7 meters marks the point where the last glimmer of Red fades into the Infrared region.  The Bible believer will almost immediately take note of the integers in the scientific notation, i.e. 4, 5, 6, and 7, and associate them with the prophetic millennial days in 2Peter 3:8.  That is, if each whole number represents 1000 years as explained in 2Peter 3:8, Violet represents the time of His birth and Red represents the 1000-year reign, which follows Armageddon.  There were 4000 years before Christ's birth; there have been 2000 years since (circa 2000 AD), and there will be 1000 more years before the end of the Millennium during which He rules the earth in His bodily presence.  The sum of the 1000-year periods is 7000 years.  Notice that the first integer of scientific notation in the picture is 4.  Using our analogy, that means 4000 years transpired before light entered the scene.  That corresponds well with John 12:46 where the Lord Jesus Christ says, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."?  And in John 9:5, "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."  And also in Rev 20:11 where this world is destroyed just before the White Throne Judgment.

Under the picture a timeline is plotted to compare directly to the numeric entries of the wavelength notations.  So for 4x10-7 meters, a vertical line may be drawn to coincide with the year 0 AD.  For 5x10-7 meters, a vertical line would intersect at 1000 AD.  At 6x10-7 meters, a vertical line intersects at 2000 AD, or modern time.  And at 7x10-7 meters, a vertical line intersects at one thousand years into the future at 3000 AD.  That is the point that Christ's earthly reign culminates as prophesied in 1Cor 15:28, "And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all."  Equally significant about the scientific notation of each of the wavelength quantities is that the number seven denotes the exponential power of 10.  To denote the wavelength in meters, this “shorthand” mathematical representation must be used, otherwise the units are microns and there is no exponential power of 10; i.e. the wavelength of Violet is merely 0.4 microns, of Green, it is 0.5 microns, and so on, and the subtle connection to God's plan for the ages becomes obscured.

Christ has always existed, so the true Light has always been shining; it was just carnally invisible to man before His birth.  But physical light shows up in our analogy at a point 4000 years after Adam's creation.  So because Christ is eternal, the carnal appearance must have been for man's sake.  Time was created as a result of Adam's disobedience.  It was created as a vehicle to carry mankind forward to a point when the ultimate sacrifice could be made to pay for the sin that was committed when Adam was still in Eden and outside the boundaries of time and the curse.  God told Adam in Genesis 2:17, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."  Adam ate, but God let some "time" transpire in "eternity past" before the curse of the ground was established.  It is said in Genesis 4:3 that, "…in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD."  The process of time began when Adam was no longer an eternal being, but one who must die upon the same day the curse was established.  It is obvious from Scripture that Adam died after reaching well into the 900-year stage of life, but he did not, nor did one of his image-bearers, live to be 1000 years old!  Again the prophecy of Peter is applicable where 1000 years equal one day.  Adam died on the same prophetic day in which he ate in disobedience, before reaching 1000 years old.  He also died spiritually on the historic day in which he ate.  At the point of the judgment of Adam's sin, God stated that the seed would eventually be born.  He determined that the incarnation of Christ must occur within the "process of time", not outside it.  Exactly when, would be 4000 years later when the Light would shine out of darkness into the world.  Since light was the creation of Christ, why not cause it to attest attributes of the Creator?  Many creations of the Lord magnify the fingerprints of His creative authorship.  There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. There are three personages of the trinity and three parts to the image of man; i.e. body, soul, and spirit.  There are seven days in the week, seven chords in music, and seven characteristics of the Lord's Spirit that exemplify His fullness in Isaiah 2 and appear as eyes in Revelation 5:6 where it is said, "…seven eyes…are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth."  One, three, and seven are the Scriptural numbers most used to point toward segments of creation that illustrate the perfect completeness of the Creator.

The last thing to notice in the picture is where Yellow falls within the spectrum.  Yellow is considered by physicists to be the BRIGHTEST color of the spectrum; its wavelength represents the most intense portion of the spectrum that strikes the human eye!  But in the picture above, it is neither at Christ's humanly birth, nor is it at his return to the earth in a physically immortal body that correlates to the wavelength of the color Yellow.  It is also not at the point that best represents the rapture of the Church where He returns for His Bride.  Instead it is roughly at the beginning of the 17th Century, more exactly at the year of the translation of God's word into the English Language in the form of the only royally authorized version of the Bible into the common people's language from Divinely selected Greek and Hebrew manuscripts.  It takes a powerful, all-knowing God, indeed, to have the forethought to work out all of the details of this creation!  Never in the history of mankind, short of the carnal appearance of Jesus Christ and sending of the Holy Ghost, has there been a presentation from Heaven so complete as the inspired translation into English of the words of God given to guide men by His instruction.  Understandably, the brightest point of the visible spectrum would coincide with the date of that God-inspired masterpiece.  For not only is Christ the Light of the world, He is also the Word of God.  Not only does He appear in humanly form at 0 AD, but He metaphorically appears brightest at the publication of the very words He spoke.  Since that time, especially as we near the year 2000 AD, the light becomes dimmer (as the wavelengths become longer) as we try to substitute other versions for His choice.

Jesus on many occasions claimed to be the light of the world; so much so that in John 1:7, He capitalizes the word so you won't miss the personification.  He, in fact, claimed that apart from Him, there is no life or light at all!  In Paul’s statement regarding being able to “clearly see” the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world, even the Godhead, the antecedent of "Godhead" is clearly the word "things" from earlier in the verse.  It is by things that are made ("Let there be (made) light") by which we as Nicodemus are enabled to understand the Godhead (Christ).  Light, ever since, has been one of those things of which, although scientists have studied in great depth, a physical description of its makeup remains quite elusive.  They are not sure if it is particulate, being emanated in small packages, or if it is an energetic waveform.  Often they attribute phenomenon to characteristics from either of the two theories, as application would justify.  And certainly this article is not intended to answer the question.  But do look for a very interesting manifestation of Biblical truth that bears a connection to the methodology that physicists have used for years to examine, measure, and describe the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that we commonly call "LIGHT".

The above article is not intended to predict the date of the Lord's return for the Church.  Obviously the errors in the calendar do not allow for the full week of Jacob's Trouble to end coincident with an event of Christ's life that is exactly 2000 years removed, until the year 2008, which represents 2000 years after his mother and Joseph found Him in the temple teaching the scholars.  The next event would be His appearance to John the Baptist for the manifestation of his royalty to Israel.  Two thousand years from that event would be at the year 2025 or 2026 according to Usher's chronology.  Notice how the precision and accuracy of the calendar that was divinely delivered to Moses by the hands of Angels has been lost.  But then nothing that God has entrusted into man's safekeeping has remained safe.  All pure things that God has entrusted unto man have become impure.  It could be said that it is the way God teaches man that full trust for purity, preservation, and enjoyment of things must be fully committed to Him for safe preservation.  The calendar is off by several years and there probably isn't any way to accurately predict the Lord's return years ahead of time.  But the times of His returns are undoubtedly given in the Bible on God's calendar and prediction on God's calendar is possible, but then when you're are in God's book, you're within something that God keeps pure, and you're apart from the realm of time that man is cursed to endure.  As long as time remains, we will remain separated from God in a sense, although no child of God is ever separated from Him in the eternal state.  If you're not a child of God through the pure, preserved way that God in His providence has made available in print to whomsoever will choose, you are an individual with a reckless, thoughtless, and foolish lifestyle.
