Abbas calls for int'l force in PA as part of new government plan

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday called for the deployment of an international military force in the Palestinian territories, as part of the political plan set forth by the future PA unity government.The military force should resemble international body sent to Lebanon, Abbas said in an official PLO document on the plan.
According to the document, the new government will call on the United Nations Security Coucil to defend the Palestinian people through an effective international force.
Abbas will present the document to Hamas and the Islamic Jihad militant group as part of negotiations to establish a unity government. He will give the heads of factions in Gaza a week to formulate their final response.The government will request that the force implement the ruling of the International Court of Justice at The Hague to dismantle segments of the separation fence that were not built on the Green Line.
The new Palestinian government will also call for an international peace conference.
