THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ROSH HASHANAH 2005

September 26, 2005

Last night our family in the Philippines was awakened by smoke and fire, and after running to the door discovered that our patio had caught on fire while we were sleeping (we suspect that someone threw a cigarette through our gate). Only one week after our home was flooded by Typhoon Damrey, (which just hit Hainan, China as their strongest typhoon in 30 years), shortly afterwards we experienced an unexpected fire. Asking the Lord what the prophetic significance of all this was, the Holy Spirit spoke to me that Rosh Hashanah 5766 was going to be a year of fires and floods, of cleansing and purification, of shakings and preparation for what lies ahead if the nations of the world continue on their current path. Immediately after receiving this word, our local news announced that a 7.5 quake had shaken Northern Peru. Indeed, I believe that a year of shaking and change is now upon us, but the purpose of this shaking is to direct nations towards repentance and salvation.

I am departing within days for Perth, Australia, arriving one day before Rosh Hashanah, and will then begin a 3-nation assignment in Australia, the U.S. and Indonesia. In a nutshell, what I hear the Holy Spirit saying is: Change and purification is coming, and the army of God needs to prepare for a period of extreme cleansing and refinement in preparation for one of the greatest harvest of souls the earth has ever seen. During the coming year, we cannot cancel or annul God's judgments, but they can be lessened and shifted to alternate events which will ultimately produce the same outcome: purification and preparation for God's end-time army, that the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be preached in all nations before He returns, including Islamic nations.

While traveling in the Bahamas in July, the Holy Spirit spoke to us that both judgment and places of refuge would be released to the U.S. mainland out of the Bahamas. As most of you know, on the day we departed a rare tropical storm formed directly over our heads on Eleuthra Island, which almost prevented our departure to Florida. Hurricanes normally form far out in the distant Atlantic, but very rarely form directly over the Bahamas. Since our departure in July, weather patterns have drastically changed. Both Katrina and Rita both formed directly over the Bahamas. Interestingly, while praying for California from Eleuthra Island (interceding that the vision we received of 11,000+ deaths from a large California quake this year would be averted or lessened), unknowing to us at the time, judgment would be released from the east of the U.S. directly under our feet in the Bahamas. But instead of 11,000+ casualties, only 10% of that figure was reached when Katrina hit land (roughly 1,100 casualties to date), and the location of the judgment was shifted. Why? Does this mean California is off the hook for the rest of the year? I believe not. It is now time to tune our ears carefully to what the Holy Spirit is saying for the coming year of 5766, (which begins on Rosh Hashanah, October 4-5), for God is not playing games. There are three areas of great concern to me over the coming year: Indonesia, the US West Coast (from Alaska to California), and Australia (including South Pacific region). These areas have a great potential for explosive revival, and also a great potential for explosive judgment if we do not heed the warnings and stand in the gap for our cities and nations.
