Lions in the house of God
Circling now and lying low
The wolves watch as the lambs, they go
Mouths dripping with their lustful woe
Anticipating slaughter. They slink and think in wolves' refrain
The need to kill still in their brains
The taste of sweet flesh on their tongues
Anticipating dinner. The lambs of God plod slowly on
And do not see that some are gone
They keep their eyes on a distant home
Anticipating slumber. The danger hidden from their eyes
So they are taken by surprise
They hear not one another's cries
Anticipating treasures.Where are the lions in the house of God?
Worn out and spent from journeys trod?
They fall in death and sleep in sod
Anticipating Heaven. The battle cry has long since come
From city walls and halls of home
But the soldiers fled, left all alone
Anticipating destruction.Where are the lions? Where are the lions?
We need them here behind enemy lines
We need them there in the enemy's faces
We, who stand watch on the walls.(I will not be a wolf cub's toy
I will not give the devil joy
I will not turn from the enemy's ploys
But stand in faith till I see victory come.)The wolves are circling, closer now
They think they'll win, but don't see how
The lion hearted warriors are roaring loud
Anticipating vengeance. Now see them flee, the wolves of woe
How fast they retreat, how scared they go
And the lambs and the lions bow their heads then low
