"Red Cross CEO - ???"

I received an email today about the CEO of the red cross receiving an annual salary of $631,000 that the writer claimed was so ridiculous, because in their words, NO ONE is worth that much!

Well, I agree with that - however, I think one should also point out the ridiculously HIGH salaries that some sports figures are paid. There are many major league players that are paid MILLIONS in dollars every year and none of them are worth that much either.  But why don't citizens complain about that?  Why don't they BOYCOTT the ballgames where these players "perform"?  Why do they raise such a ruckus every time one of them makes a goal or a home run?  You know - everyone PATS them on the back, jumps up and down and just fawns over them!  They are just doing what they are being paid MILLIONS a year - to do!!!!
The same can be said for movie "stars".

I am a nurse and I can guarantee you that the people who are injured in natural disasters are then a lot more concerned about good nursing care, then seeing a major league ball game! Yet nurses are underpaid for what they do and what they put up with. Why this discrepancy in our culture?  Why do people willingly pay to see football, golf, hockey, baseball and basketball players make millions of dollars a year?  Yet, they care nothing about this discrepancy in our culture?  They will pay to see these overpaid players perform in sporting events and not blink an eye, yet  -- let them or a loved one have to go into the hospital for a major surgery or injury and they will expect the nurses to work miracles for them! I have worked on floors where I have been responsible for 25 or more patients in one shift with NO nursing assistants to help!  I can't begin to tell you how many times someone would get very irate during the shift because it took 15 minutes for them to get their pain shot.  They never realized that there were 7 people in FRONT of them also waiting for pain medication - with ONE nurse doing it all. There is something grossly wrong with our culture!
