Hi Doves,
In this article I would like to take a closer look at the feast of tabernacles. From scripture we understand that the Israelites were to dwell in booths for seven days."Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites" (Lev.23:42)
The question is what do these booths represent? I have come to understand that they represent the physical bodies of believers. The word "booth" means "temporary dwelling place". The Israelites dwelt in these booths in the wilderness for 40 years after they were delivered from the bondage of Egypt, by the might hand of God. They were to dwell in these booths until they reached the promise land.
As believers, we also have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness. We also must continue to dwell in our physical bodies, temporarily, until we receive our glorified bodies along with the kingdom of God.
"Now this I say brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of G! od..." (1Cor.15:50)
In our physical bodies, we are meant to acquire understanding from the Word, and then bring forth the fruits of righteousness. This is why the booths were made of branches of palm trees and several types of fruits.
"But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the Word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." (Matt.13:23)
"And ye shall take you on the FIRST DAY the boughs (fruits) of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs (fruits) of thick trees, and willows of the brook.." (Lev.23:40)
"That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt" (Lev.23:43)
Once we understand that our bodies are booths, we begin to realise why the Lord is interested in what we do in our bodies. Our bodies are His temporary dwelling place on earth.
"...Now the! body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by His own power. Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?" (1Cor.6:13-15)
When the Lord comes for us, the Feast of Tabernacles will be the last seven days in which we will dwell in (booths) physical bodies on earth.
The first day of the feast of Tabernacles will mark the seven day count down for the church to be evacuated from the earth. On that first day the first trumpet of God will be sounded. A trumpet of God will sound on EACH of the SEVEN DAYS. For the first SIX DAYS, however, there will be no indication in the physical realm that something spectacular is about to happen. It will just be like the Israelites victory over Jericho.
"And ye shall compass the city all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do SIX DAYS" (Josh.6:3)
Notice they were told not to shout until the s! eventh day.
"And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, ye shall NOT SHOUT, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, UNTIL THE DAY I BID YOU SHOUT; THEN YE SHALL SHOUT...And it came to pass on the SEVENTH DAY...when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat..." (Josh.6:10,14,20)
Isn't this what the Lord is going to do on the last day of the feast of tabernacles, when the Last trumpet is sounded?
"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with A SHOUT...and with the TRUMPET OF GOD and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together..." (1Thess.4:16:17)
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at THE LAST TRUMP; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1Cor.15:52)
There is know doubt in my mind that feast of taberna! cles is the season in which we are to expect the redemption of our bodies.
Do remain blessed,
Ola
