Hi Doves,
Paul informs us that the resurrection of the dead and the translation of the living will happen at the last trump. Many have debated exactly which last trump was Paul referring to. Was he referring to the trumpet blown during the feast of trumpets? Or was he referring to the seventh trumpet John saw blown in Revelation? I believe he was referring to neither.According to scripture the Last Trump will be blown on the seventh day of the feast of tabernacles.
For we read, "Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles SEVEN DAYS...and thou shalt REJOICE IN THY FEAST, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter...SEVEN DAYS THOU SHALT KEEP A SOLEMN FEAST UNTO THE LORD..." (Deut.16:13 - 15)
The word "solemn" in this verse comes from the Hebrew word "chagag" and it means to observe a festival, to celebrate, to dance,
In Numbers we read, "...in your SOLEMN DAYS...ye shall BLOW WITH THE TRUMPETS." (Num.10:10)
The word "solemn! " in this verse comes from the Hebrew word "mowadah"
which means a fixed time or season to gather an assembly for a definite purpose. The feast of tabernacles is a solemn feast, a celebration, a festival. It occured over seven solemn (fixed) days. during each of those days a trumpet would sound for the gathering of the whole congregation.
I believe the last trumpet will sound on the seventh day of this feast, which is also the LAST DAY of the feast of tabernacles.
It is this "last day" Jesus is referring to when He said,
"And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the LAST DAY. And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the LAST DAY." (John 6:39,40)
And also when He said, "No man come to me , except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and! I will raise him up at the LAST DAY." (John 6:44)
Again we read, "Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life;and I will raise him up at the LAST DAY." (John 6:54)
Martha understood that the resurrection would happen on the last day, for she said.
"...I know that he (refering to Lazarus) shall rise again in the resurrection at the LAST DAY." (John 11:24)
The phrase "the last day" only occurs eight times in the entire bible. I have quoted five. The remaining three are found in the following verses.
We read in John,
"Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand...Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught...In THE LAST DAY, that GREAT DAY of the feast, Jesus stood and cried..." (John 7:2,14,37)
The next one is in Nehemiah,
"And they found written in the law which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seve! nth month...Also day by day, from the first day unto THE LAST DAY, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast SEVEN DAYS..." (Nehemiah 8:14,18)
The last one is to do with the resurrection of the damned at the Great White Throne Judgement.
"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in THE LAST DAY." (John 12:48)
This is what I believe will happen. The rapture will takes place on the last day of the feast of tabernacles. Seven years later the saints return with Jesus on the last day of the feast of tabernacles at which time the saints, who were beheaded for their faith in Christ, are raised and receive their glorified bodies. This is why I believe the following verses in Deuteronomy are prophetic.
"And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles...gather the people together, men ,and women, and children, and thy stranger...that they may hear..." (Deut 31:10,12)
One thousand years later on the last day of the feast of tabernacles all those who died in there sinful state will be raised up to be judged. These will include men and women who have lived and died without Christ over seven thousand years. When we understand that the Last Trumpet will sound on the Last Day, the rapture happening on the SEVENTH DAY of the feast of tabernacles is the only logical conclusion.
"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, AT THE LAST TRUMP: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead (ON THE LAST DAY) shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1Cor.15:52) (Words in bracket are mine)
Because the feast of tabernacles is a fixed season every year, this is when we should be watching for the Lord's coming. I believe Paul was referring to the LAST DAY of the feast of tabernacles when ! he said,
"But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that THAT DAY should overtake you as a thief." (1Thess.5:4)
How can "that day" overtake us when we KNOW ITS THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES?
For I know, for instance, that in 2005, 2006 and 2007 the Last Day of the feast of tabernacles falls on the 24th, 13th and 3rd of October respectively.
These are the ONLY days I will be watching for the coming of the Lord during these years. I don't believe that Jesus will come for His Body, the Church, on just any day.
Only our Heavenly Father knows the year in which Jesus Christ will fulfil the feast of tabernacles through the redemption of our bodies, until then we should watch for his return every year during THE LAST DAY OF THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES.Do remain blessed,
Ola.
