Abbas Cancels Trip to UN General Assembly
• Gaza Too Precarious to Leave Unattended After Arafat's Nephew Killed

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) canceled his planned attendance at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York next week. Palestinian sources claimed that the cancellation was due to his desire to remain in the area during the IDF withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and due to the deteriorating security situation in the strip, Army Radio reported. Security forces for the PA in the Gaza Strip were placed on high alert on Wednesday following the execution - style assassination of General Moussa Arafat, the former commander of the PA's Military Intelligence, and a nephew of Yasser Arafat.
