"Katrina will cost American
Taxpayers: OVER $100 BILLION!!!!"
I don't know, am I crazy?
I visited New Orleans once during the Mardi Gras (in
college), it was interesting.....certainly warmer than Michigan in February.
But for all its charm, is it really worth costing the American Taxpayers
OVER $100 Billion to save? The city is sinking and has sunk and will
continue to sink further below Sea Level....while it is surrounded by a
lake, a river and ocean that is all higher than it is?????? Hello????
Why not move some of the historic buildings to a NEW Bourbon street in
a nearby area, that is ABOVE sea level???
New Orleans was an accident waiting to happen for years......now
we are going to throw HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of DOLLARS of YOUR money and
MINE to continue this madness? This is a losing proposition!
Lets take our loses, adjust to inevitabilities and move on! Lets
not throw good money after bad!
I've been told that Venice, with its picturesque canals
in stead of streets, suffered from similar problems as New Orleans......and
look what the Venetians did!!!! They made lemonade out of their lemons,
rather than fight Mother Nature! Is America so rich we can take on
Mother Nature indefinitely? What is the point?
