How long was Israel in the wilderness?

For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till
all the people [that were] men of war, which came out of Egypt, were
consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the
LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware
unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk

If you take 40 years and multiply this by 360 (Jewish calendar) then you
can arrive at a perfect 14,400. Some are claiming that the children of
Israel walked in the wilderness for 14,000 but the number doesn't fit.
40 years X 360 days = 14,400 total days that the children of Israel
walked in the wilderness.

Does anyone else have any 14,000 or 14,400 related Bible studies?
