The references I use are multiple, but the main one is The Spiritual Significance of Numbers, The Companion Bible, Appendix 10.
 
First, there have been 56 years, or 8 "sevens" since Israel became a nation in 1948.  8 denotes "resurrection, regeneration; a now beginning or commencement."
 
Second, 2004 minus 70 years is 1934.  The year Hitler officially began his aggression in Europe.  70 has possible relation to beginning of the 70th week.
 
Third, Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles starts September 29 at sundown and continues into the 30th.  Astronomers have predicted that the asteroid Toutatis will pass within 1 lunar distance of earth on the 29th.  29's numeric significance is "intensifying of Divine judgement."  30 follows and represents "Divine perfection, applied to order."
 
Fourth, on the seventh day of Sukkot a trumpet sounds signifying the end of the feast.  For 2004 that day is either October 6 or 7.  6 denotes "the human number," and 7 denotes "spiritual perfection."
 
Interpretive Thoughts:
 
We are clearly within a generation, since 1948.  "I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened."  Matt. 24:34 NIV.
 
The number 70 is significant to the Jews, the Babylonian captivity for 70 years, Roman destruction of Jewish temple in 70 AD, atrocities by Hitler 70 years ago, and now being on the brink of the start of the 70th week of Daniel.
 
Is Toutatis significant?  Earlier this year, scientists had no idea that there would be such a degree of solar activity as was seen. "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars."  Luke 21:25 NIV.  Scientists are saying, at least on record that Toutatis is not a threat, but it is comming towards earth.  We'll see.  Another point is that September 29th is the feast day of St. Michael the archangel.  "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."  1 Thess.4":16.  NIV.   I believe Michael is the only archangel.  He will battle and defeat satan in the end.
 
Do the dates for the Feast of Tabernacles have special significance in 2004?
 
Are the events that coincide with the numbers of this year significant?  Do the signs of the end of the age tell us we are in the season of our Lord's coming?
 
I pray that we are all awake, alert and aware.  Since these things are foretold in prophecy, he that has an ear let him hear.  Read, pray, obey.  Our Lord is coming soon!
