Dear friends:

Below is Agent 007's report # 4 from the Republican National Convention.

Jim,

You can feel the Holy Spirit moving here at the RNC. This may not come across on television, but here in Madison Square Garden you can sense Him moving in many ways. Not only in the main hall, but in the back hallways and the smaller areas where people are meeting. It is an acceleration of the move of God here in New York City and it is exciting!

Before last night's (Wednesday) session I was in the booth where Sean Hannity was doing his daily radio program. I was standing right behind the guests as they came and did their interviews and then left. I man who I recognized from a distance headed to Sean's guest chair and stopped right before sitting down, stuck his hand out to me and said, "Hello, I'm Trent Lott." Later, ABC's Sam Donaldson and actor Stephen Baldwin joined Sean for his final segment. Stephen Baldwin is the brother of the radical liberal actor Alec Baldwin. But Stephen is an outspoken Christian and pulled no punches stating it to the Hannity radio audience. However, it was during the commercial breaks that the exchange between Sam Donaldson and Stephen Baldwin became even more dynamic. Sam asked Stephen if he believed that Catholics were saved. Stephen answered without a pause that the only way to be saved is to accept Jesus, the Son of God as your Savior. Sam didn't really acknowledge Stephen's assertion, but it was interesting that Sam began quoting from the Bible and said that his favorite scriptures were those written by the apostle Paul. As if to compare the scriptures that he had just quoted, Sam went on to comment about the degeneration of television and specifically "his network", in bringing a "wife-swapping" show to the air this fall ("The Swap" this fall on ABC-TV).

Wednesday was the night when the gloves came off at the RNC. Democratic Senator Zell Miller gave the convention's keynote address. He not only highlighted the shortcomings of John Kerry but showed how the presidential candidate from his own party had intentionally weakened the military. But what impressed me about Senator Miller's speech was when he said that George W. Bush "is unashamed of his belief that God is not indifferent to America." Miller went on to say, "I can identify with someone who has lived that line in 'Amazing Grace,'  'Was blind, but now I see,' and I like the fact that he's the same man on Saturday night that he is on Sunday morning."

Vice President Cheney then documented the many "flip-flops" and indecisions of Senator Kerry and punctuated those remarks by saying, "In his years in Washington, John Kerry has been one of a hundred votes in the United States Senate and very fortunately on matters of national security, his views rarely prevailed. But the presidency is an entirely different proposition. A senator can be wrong for 20 years, without consequence to the nation. But a president a president always casts the deciding vote. And in this time of challenge, America needs and America has a president we can count on to get it right."

After the evening session was over, I watched as workmen moved in to re-arrange the convention floor, slimming down the main stage, removing the round entertainment stage that had brought groups such as Third Day up from the floor below, and adding a round stage in the very middle of the arena with the Seal of the President of the United States on the carpet. It will be a totally different look tonight when President George W. Bush addresses the convention and the American people.
