"Our God is a consuming fire
(Dream)"
Submitted by: Chris M
In the early morning hours Monday, I dreamed of a thunderous
sound.
As I turned around I saw a whirlwind and I heard God's
voice speak to me in my mind as I stood before it. And, I heard him say
it was time. I understood this to mean it was time for my death.
I looked before me and there was scattered brush laying
around me and I saw that I had a match in my hand. At first I became afraid,
thinking of the pain that would be felt if I lighted this brush around
myself and was burned by it. I quickly moved all the brush together in
a pile away from me on my hands and knees and the match became lighted
and I put it to the brush, which instantly caught on fire.
I stepped back as the whirlwind by now was beginning
to circle the pile of brush and moved over it as it caught fire. By moving
over the brush, the whirlwind God was in became on fire as well and it
consumed everything around. He began to move toward me in the fire and
I stepped backward into a pile of strips of metal and nails, as if he were
moving me there.
I felt an unbelievable peace come over me, as I felt
my God, the Great Physician wanting me to trust Him - that he would not
let the pain of death endure. I trusted him and the whirlwind of fire passed
onto me and I was caught up in it along with the strips of metal and the
nails. I felt my hands and feet stretched out and I was bound hand and
foot with the strips of metal and nails. The nails pierced me but I felt
no pain.
In a few moments of being suspended I was let to fall,
but not roughly, until I came down upon my back and onto a single nail
that went into my spine. The Lord then showed me in my mind a lifeline
that held my body and mind together. It was severed partially by the nail.
I saw His hammer raise. I saw his hands work as he moved the back of the
hammer into position on my lifeline, knowing that when he pulled it apart
with the hammer I would no longer exist in this world any longer. With
a swift pull that I never saw the end of my vision became as black as night
and I felt I no longer existed in that place.
Very quickly I came to see light, and then shapes. It
came as quick as one could blink their eyes and there I was. I was in a
workshop of some sort with cabinents and tools and a workbench. A cousin
of mine appeared from the darkness and was moving aimlessly, first toward
me and then away. Though he is my age at thirty, he appeared to be a young
child.
I awoke in a sweat. It's been with me all day and obviously
into the evening. It is more complex than I have the capacity to interpret.
I have given it to the Lord and if anyone here has a gift of insight from
him on these matters, I would most welcome it.
The Lord be with you all.
