"Pentagon jetliner"

Dear John, I want to tell you how much I appreciate what you are doing with 5 Doves.  I do not post often but I read almost every day.  I just could not pass on this jetliner topic.  I have four relatives buried at Arlington National Cemetery.  My parents are buried out in the far southeast corner of the cemetery.  If you look at a map of the area you will see that the Pentagon is just outside the perimeter at that corner.  While standing at the gravesite, the Pentagon looms as a huge, huge building and is very imposing.  That is the face of the building that was hit.  I have a friend who just happened to be standing out in the street not far from the gravesite of my mom and dad.  He saw a large, passenger jet come in a little differently than he expected.  When a person is in any part of Arlington, he or she would notice jets coming in and leaving all the time.  National Airport is very close.  But this jet he saw was different.  He stood there and watched it.  He was already in a somber mood, as you might imagine.  He was facing in the direction of the Pentagon.  His memory is in slow motion.  He said that the jet came in more slowly than jets normally fly and it was a lot lower altitude than he had ever seen.  He suddenly knew it was going to crash.  He had a thought about jumping behind a car that was parked there.  It all happened too fast in reality.  He had no time to jump.  When the jet hit the building, he said it was the loudest and biggest thing he had ever heard or seen.  He did duck behind the car with his friend.  Then they stood up and watched all the fire and smoke.  They were completely stunned and stood there with their mouths open.  They had not heard about the World Trade Center because they had gotten up early and gotten ready and just left to drive in to Arlington. The traffic is horrendous.  They were trying to maintain a prayerful mood so they never flipped on the radio or TV. After watching the crash, they got in the vehicle and drove up to Ft. Myers, which is at the other end of the cemetery and found out the whole scenario.  He said that it did not improve his mood that day. He had planned to spend most of the day at Arlington.  Anyone with a family member buried there is given a pass and can drive his or her personal vehicle into the cemetery.  For everyone else, I invite you to go visit Arlington.  You can drive up to the parking lot and go to the visitor center.  There are tour buses, which stop at many of the most famous gravesites.  I have been there many times.  They average about 25 funerals a day there, if you can imagine.  But it is a place full of history.  Thank you again, John.  5 Doves is number one on my priority list.  I always look at 5 Doves even when I do not have time to look at the rest.  Love, your sister in Jesus Our Lord and Savior, Carol
