I don't find it at all hard to believe that there is a leader of God's people coming from the line of David who will sit on the Throne of David in Jerusalem before King Jesus comes to take charge of His millennial Kingdom.  This gives the world the clear choice between the Beast system and God's system of God-submitted King.
There are so many Scriptures of David the King that are prophetic(not first David) and non-deity references(not Jesus) that this is the explanation that makes the most sense to me.  The only thing in question now is timing, and God only knows His exact timing, but we know the season.  And we are in the very last days!!
