IDF Chief: Israel will take care of those who back terror
 

Security officials said Wednesday morning that the Hamas headquarters in Syria is behind the double suicide bombing in Be’er Sheva that killed 16 Israelis and wounded almost 100 more on Tuesday afternoon. “Its not the PR departments of these organizations sitting in Damascus. It is their operational commands,” a high-ranking security source told Ha’arez on Wednesday.

IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon echoed the point, telling Knesset Members that Israel intends to “take care” of those who support and finance Palestinian terror. “That is those in the Palestinian Authority, the Hizb’Allah organization in Lebanon, in the terrorist command in Damascus, which operate with Syrian approval and those who provide funding and weapons to terrorist organizations,” he explained.

Although refusing to link Syria explicitly with Tuesday’s bombing, the IDF chief was adamant that “everyone who is responsible for terrorism against us will not sleep soundly," a veiled threat against the Damascus regime. Following the suicide bombing of Haifa’s Maxim restaurant in October 2003, Israeli warplanes bombed an abandoned terrorist training camp not far from the Syrian capital, causing shockwaves throughout the Syrian leadership.
