God’s Witnesses in the Tribulation Week
Amos 3:7 says that God will do nothing unless He first tells His prophets. These prophets, or witnesses, are then charged with telling the people of His intentions, as did Noah, Moses and the two men who warned Lot.
There is coming a time in the very near future that will far surpass any previous judgment that God has pronounced upon the world. It is variously referred to as Daniel’s 70th Week, The Great Tribulation and the time of Jacob’s trouble. It is generally stated as being 3 ˝ years in duration. It is imperative to understand that these 3 ˝ years refer to both the first and second parts of a seven-year period (Daniel 9:27). Seven years that are confirmed by Antichrist – NOT Jesus Christ (Isaiah 10:20; 28:18, Psalm 55:20, 21, Daniel 11:23).
The Tribulation Week begins in Revelation 6:1 with the appearance of Antichrist riding a white horse. The Book of Revelation is largely chronological in order, with some few parenthetical statements such as Revelation 11:13-18. Given the time citations of Revelation 9:5,15 and 12:6, it is not unreasonable to place the events recorded in Revelation 6 and 7 in the first 3 ˝ years.
Within those first 3 ˝ years, we find a rapture in Revelation 7:14, as noted by Fay in last week’s post. That scripture describes believers being removed from the “Great Tribulation” during the first half of the seven years. Thus the first half of the Tribulation Week is called the Great Tribulation, as is the second half (Matthew 24:21). The entire seven years should be characterized as the “Great Tribulation” - not merely the second half, as is often the case.
In addition, the Rapture referred to in Revelation 7:14 is NOT the Firstfruits/Pre-trib Rapture of 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; it is the larger Main Harvest Rapture which occurs in the early stages of the Tribulation. Luke 21:36 states that we have opportunity to escape ALL (of the Tribulation Week). This Revelation 7 Rapture does not escape all. These believers have suffered the beginning stages of the Tribulation Week, yet are rescued out of the Great Tribulation because they “washed their robes.” They did so after having first been left behind due to lukewarmness (Revelation 3:15-19). The Firstfruits Rapture of Isaiah 26:19 and Revelation 3:10 escapes the Judgment AND Wrath of God, while the Main Harvest Rapture of Revelation 7:14 escapes the Wrath of God only. The wrath of God commences in the second of seven years with the start of the Day of the Lord in Revelation 8:1-7.
Concerning the coming 70th Week of Daniel, God maintains His witnesses throughout. He starts at the outset of the seven years with His 144,000 Messianic Jews (Revelation 7:4-8). These are caught up at mid-trib in Revelation 14. The two witnesses then testify for the second 42 months which precede the second coming of Christ. Garry agrees with me on that one, as does Dr. Noah Hutchings, Clarence Larkin, G.H. Lang, Dr. John Walvoord and Finis J. Dake. Apparently Donna and Gino do not agree, opting for the two witnesses being in the first 42 months. During their witnessing in Jerusalem, God also sends His angel to the four corners of the world to warn and persuade people to accept Christ (Revelation 14:6,7). These are God’s Witnesses during the Tribulation Week.
I humbly submit the above sentiments and assertions to all who read. May God confirm that which is true and reveal to me that which may be in error.
