A Fall from Space, a Nobel Peace Prize and a Dragon Capsule
In the past week of high watch for the Rapture there have been three very important signs of the imminence of His Coming: a man falling and sky diving from the edge of space, the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Community, and a dragon capsule ascending into the heavens. Some brief comments on these signs, including some Biblical quotes, may be of interest to doves.
The Man Falling from the Edge of Space - Sign of the Coming of Elijah?
On Sunday 14 October 2012 Felix Baumgartner (Fearless Felix!) rose to a new helium balloon height and then sky dived to Earth. Figures indicate Baumgartner broke a total of three world records: the highest altitude skydive (39,045m), longest freefall without a parachute (36,529m) and fastest fall achieved during a skydive. Baumgartner's speed clinched one of his main goals: to become the first skydiver to break the sound barrier, typically measured at more than 1,110 kph (there’s that 111 again!). Could this be an important sign, coming as it has in this critical period (the event was delayed from Tuesday 9 October). More particularly, it could point to the Coming of Elijah, either as a catalyst for repentance and revival in the Church (I lean this way) or as one of the two witnesses who will appear after the Rapture. Either way it is quite amazing, looking back 2000 years, that a sign in the sky could be a man falling from the edge of space! In Malachi 4:5 we read:
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.
Nobel Peace Prize - European Community - Kingdom Not Like Any Other Kingdom
Daniel 7:23 23 Thus [the angel] said, the fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms and shall devour the whole earth, tread it down, and break it in pieces and crush it.
The European Union (EU) has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for six decades of work in advancing peace in Europe. The committee said the EU had helped to transform Europe "from a continent of war to a continent of peace". The award comes as the EU faces the biggest crisis of its history, with recession and social unrest rocking many of its member states.
Daniel 7:23 prophesies that the fourth beast will be a kingdom different from any other kingdom! Almost all kingdoms, including throughout European history, have come to power through war. This Nobel Peace Prize decision was unanimous and stamped the world’s approval on the European Community. However, we know from Daniel that this kingdom will, in its time, devour and crush the whole earth, and will bring further persecution to the Jews (a new and final holocaust, as Jesus prophesies in Matthew 24:16-22).
How will this decision, this award of peace, look then! The true evil of the Antichrist and his kingdom will be revealed in its time, but many will be deceived by this apparent, this disguise of, peace. Not only is the Antichrist kingdom prophesied to be different, but the Antichrist himself will be different, as we read in Daniel 7:24.
24 And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise; and another shall arise after them, and he shall be different from the former ones, and he shall subdue and put down three kings.
In all of this there is hope for the saints of God, as we read in Daniel 7:22 Until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints possessed the kingdom.
The Dragon Capsule - Ascending to the International Space Station
Isaiah 14: 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell.
On 7 October SpaceX’s Dragon capsule was launched into space and then successfully reached the International Space Station on Wednesday morning (10 October). The spacecraft was secured to the orbiting science complex. About two hours earlier, astronauts steering a robotic arm reached out and captured the Dragon floating about 30 feet away. Revelation 12 speaks quite a lot about the dragon, and the whole chapter is relevant. Some selected verses (Amplified Bible) are below:
: 3 Then another ominous sign (wonder) was seen in heaven: Behold, a huge, fiery-red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven kingly crowns (diadems) upon his heads.
4 His tail swept [across the sky] and dragged down a third of the stars and flung them to the earth. And the dragon stationed himself in front of the woman who was about to be delivered, so that he might devour her child as soon as she brought it forth.
5 And she brought forth a male Child, One Who is destined to shepherd (rule) all the nations with an iron staff (scepter), and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne.
9 And the huge dragon was cast down and out - that age-old serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, he who is the seducer (deceiver) of all humanity the world over; he was forced out and down to the earth, and his angels were flung out along with him.
