The Jewish people at the time of Christ knew the scriptures. They understood from the prophecies that the Messiah was coming. Unfortunately, their whole focus was on the coming of the King Messiah and did not understand the fact that he would first come to die for their sins as the Suffering Messiah. Their focus was on the second coming not the first coming. Most of the church is making a similar mistake. They focus on the first coming and ignore the signs that will herald the second coming
