"To Steve Mullin re: Skyline"
I posted about this last summer, I didn't
realize it at the time we were there, but Comic Con had people
promoting this (as with all media) movie. Every year the big nets and
studios try to out do each other. One year it was sky writing, "Seek
the Six", about the short lived cable series "The Prisoner", before the
movie 2012 came out, there were huge banners all over with the number
of days till the end of the world (using the 12-21-12 date). For
"District 9" they had 'protesters' with signs about treating the aliens
in a humane way. These things are all over the place, and sometimes
they give you freebies that promote a game or movie or tv show.
This
time, the whole side of the hotel at the Convention Center had a
'Skyline' poster on it, and there was a guy working a machine that
pushed foam up through a 'person shaped' stencil. Then, the little foam
man just floated up. The guy running it had on a shirt that said 'Don't
look up" (the movie's tagline). My daughter asked what it was for, and
the guy had no idea, he was just hired to work the machine.
Do a search on Comic Con Skyline 'foam man'. I posted pix before, but I don't know how to do a search, sorry.
This
is an obvious 'jab' at the Rapture, and I believe a conditioning act to
prepare those left behind that they are 'lucky ones'. *apparently the
movie follows some who 'escaped'*.
Blessings~
