"Simple Acts of Kindness"
The other day I heard a remark from
my sister that has stayed with me. I can't stop thinking about it.
She went to work several years ago as a "lunch lady" in the elementary
school near her home so her daughter could transfer to that school and
though her daughter is now grown and married she continues there.
She told me that she was in Walmart a few days ago picking up a
The young lady who waited on her
said, "Do you remember me?" She did not, so the woman told her, "You
worked in the cafeteria at my elementary school. I remember you because you were the only person who was kind to me when I was in school."
How sad that in twelve years of school, only ONE person was remembered by her for being kind.
But the most overwhelming
'take-away' I received from this is how the smallest and simplest acts
of kindness effect people on the receiving end. I sometimes get caught
up into thinking that to serve God means doing something BIG. But this
shows me that God is looking for the continual outpouring of His love
in us toward others daily. Just little acts of kindness and caring go
a long way. It is simple, so simple that many times we miss it.
