Hi again Doves. First of all, I am so thankful for this webiste and the ability to share with all of you. I don't know many who understand my love for Jesus, but I know that you all do, and I know I will meet you all face to face some day very very soon.As promised yesterday, here is the second letter I prepared. Again, please use if and as the Holy Spirit directs you. (And as you can see at the end of this letter, something I read on Five Doves inspired this letter!)
Do You Really Know Him??
This letter/flyer is written by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and is directed at all of the beautiful people that Jesus Christ Himself created before the world ever was. Jesus loves us so much and is hurting beyond our comprehension at our rejection of Him, including our constant hypocritical use and abuse of His name. Before you cast this letter away as some fanatical person’s attempt to be judgmental or hypocritical, please read on. This letter will be direct but it will also offer hope. How can the writer, myself, be judgmental when I once did all the same things addressed in this letter? I can’t.
Jesus wants you to be His; He wants you to read this letter. And if this doesn’t convince you, think about eternity. This is a very long time. We are all going to die; it is a fact. So why not invest in our eternal future now; eternity is much longer than now. Now is temporary, and if we place all our efforts and focus on now, we stand to lose out on eternity, and that is putting it mildly. Please read on…
1. Are you a Christian? Are you someone who does believe and speak that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to die for the sins of His people so they can live in eternity with Him?
2. If so, are you born again? Do you have the spirit of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, living in you today? How do you live each day? Do you live with a desire for holiness and to please Jesus? Do you love Him? Is He your number one priority over all?
As the Bible says, Satan prowls around deceiving constantly; he is the father of lies. And, he masquerades as an angel of light; he presents attractive ideas that look and sound good but are bold faced lies designed to capture your soul. He has worked very hard over the years, and especially in this current generation, to convince “Christians” that just believing about Jesus is enough. I guess it depends upon how you believe…. Just remember that Satan and all his demons know who Jesus is; they believe He is the Son of God; but they are far from committed to him; they are against Him. They are bound for hell, and that cannot be changed.
The question is, “How do you ‘believe’ in Jesus?”
If you answered “yes” to the questions in paragraph #1 above but weren’t so sure about the questions in # 2, please read on. You are not alone!! This generation is known for our “lukewarm” or “halfway” approach and commitment to Jesus. And friends, this is very very bad.
In many countries today, but very prevalently in America, many “Christians” go to church, may or may not bring their Bibles with them, can’t wait to get out to go watch the football game, and live the rest of their week like heathens enjoying the material pleasures of the world -- some dabbling in drunkenness, sexual sin, and talking with words that are profane and crude. Why do we do this? Because we acknowledge Jesus with our lips, but our hearts are far from Him. These exact words are spoken by Jesus in Isaiah, Matthew, and Mark. And even further, in Revelation 3:15-16, He calls us the church of Laodicea – the lukewarm church. He says that our actions literally make Him sick to the point that He will spew us (or vomit us) out of His mouth!! He says He would rather us be cold than lukewarm. Obviously, He passionately desires that we be hot and on fire for Him, loving Him and serving Him in thankfulness and obedience.
Do you think that we in our current lukewarm state will have any place in the indescribable Heaven that He has prepared for those who love Him? I bet Satan has told you that you are just fine in this state; that you believe in Jesus and that’s all it takes. He says, “You’ll be fine; Jesus is loving and wonderful; He won’t turn you away from Heaven, especially when you acknowledge His name.” This is actually the direct opposite of the truth!
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” --John 3:3
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." --John 14:21
Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord”, shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in Heaven. –Matthew 7:21
Very simply put, we must love Him enough not to offend Him. We should love Him enough to strive for holiness in our daily living. He should be our priority every day; not just halfway on Sunday. And, we cannot do this on our own. We must have His Holy Spirit in us leading and guiding us, and most importantly, giving us a yearning and desire to please Him. It is only the Holy Spirit who will stir in you about Jesus; He will convict you of sin; He will lift the veil off your eyes so you can see the truth! He will work in you to make you more like Jesus, patiently and lovingly step by step. Without the Holy Spirit, you simply will be striving in the flesh, and it won’t work. It is a requirement that the Holy Spirit be present in you; He is the seal of your redemption; the guarantee that you are His!! God recognizes you as His by His Holy Spirit in you. Otherwise, you don’t belong to Him, and if you don’t belong to Him, who do you think has control of you – both now and in eternity?
Put very boldly, serving Jesus is basically black or white. There is no middle ground. You either serve Him, completely and all the way, or you serve the other. Jesus says, you are either for Him or against Him (Luke 11:23). If you are currently living in a lukewarm state (and this includes compromising in ANY way), please don’t be fooled by the father of lies that you are okay. You are not okay. But, Jesus can change that!! Yes He can! Do you want Him to change this for you? If so, it is very simple. But, before I go on, I must state… You must be sincere; you must really want this; you must want Jesus more than the pleasures of your sin.
As stated above, the Holy Spirit is the key. However, if we haven’t truly repented of our sins – knowing that these are the very actions that nailed Jesus to the cross and been truly sorry—we are still lost. We must go to Jesus and tell Him that we recognize we are sinful, and without Him as our Savior, we are nothing. When we do this and accept His gift of grace by FAITH (the gift that covers all our sins from past, now, and into the future), then His Holy Spirit can come in and reside in us. Ask Him for this; ask Him to breathe His life into you and live in you. Ask Him to change you and begin to make you holy as He is holy. If you do this sincerely, you will be changed without a doubt. It will be something you cannot explain, but believe me, you will try! You will want to shout it from the rooftops so others can have it too. Where do you think the inspiration to write this letter came from? It’s not from a person in the flesh; it is the Holy Spirit (JESUS) in this person!!
I end with a wonderful summation; one that reminded me of how desperately we all need to understand.
