"To Jimmy Lishman on tempation and patience"
As you said, the Apostle Paul said to be grateful for temptations, which call forth patience.
But Jesus said "Lead us not unto temptation." I have heard these words of Jesus translated
"Spare us from the time of trial," and that this means the explicit trial called the Tribulation.
I believe that at this time we need to concentrate on praying to be spared the time of trial.
I believe the trials will be so great that many might fall "if it were possible"--but that Jesus
WILL lead us, as a shepherd through whatever is coming.
There may have been a time when resisting temptation was "character building", but what
is happening now, and what is on the horizon, is beyond this.
Good Shepherd lead us OUT of temptation. Lead us out of the strong delusion. Lead us to the
sheep fold, home.
