Hello, John and Doves,This is great stuff, Kevin!!I have a feeling that Jesus may well come in the fourth watch for us, here in the United States.Because of the medicines I take for high blood pressure, etc., I have to get up to use the restroomat least twice before I get up for the day.The first time is usually around 1:00 am (the third watch), and the second time is usually around 5:00 am(the fourth watch). The difference is that I always get the distinct feeling that I could decide to wake up for the day at 5:00 am.However, I usually go back to sleep, begging the meaning of the verse,"A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep—So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man."Proverbs 6:10-11, Proverbs 24:33-34, NKJVThat is to say, in a spiritual sense, we should always be ready to wake at the sound of the "last trump"(1 Corinthians 15:52, KJV).In Christ Jesus, the soon coming Groom,Mike C.Kevin Heckle (30 Sep 2010)
"Re: Kevin Heckle: "Morning Star""
Marilyn,
Below I’ve posted 2 Peter 1:19 wherein the Spirit speaks of the ‘day star’, metaphorically speaking of Christ ‘RISING’ in our hearts and certainly lights the way in the darkest time before dawn.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
φωσφόρος (Strong’s G5459) day star-phosphorus as defined by the Thayer’s Lexicon as ‘light bringing, giving light; the planet Venus, the morning star, day star; metaphorically Christ
1 Corinthians 15:41 says that each celestial body has its own glory for “one star differeth from another star in glory”. Jesus distinctly says that he is the lampros or BRIGHT and ‘morning star’ meaning metaphorically brilliant, splendid or magnificent (G2986). Venus is the brightest of any object in the sky even at its dimmest crescent phase, surpassed only by the Sun (-26.74) and the Moon (-12.92) whereas Saturn (+1.47) is the dimmest visible planet in our solar system, at its brightest phase (-0.49). Saturn is outshined by Sirius, Canopus, Alpha-Centauri, Arcturus and Vega which are the top brightest stars beyond the Sun.
The faintest object visible during the day must exceed -4.00 apparent magnitude (negative number is higher) and Venus is the ONLY ‘day star’ that can exceed that at -4.67 apparent magnitude making it the only possible ‘day star’. It literally can be the ONLY ‘day star’ as metaphorically speaking of Jesus, the BRIGHT and Morning Star.
As for Jesus throne being Saturn, I find that a stretch. The sun, moon and stars were creations intended to signify time and as special signs not the literal throne of the Lord. This whole creation groans in travail, the heavens (1st and 2nd) waiting to pass away and become new. I know Paul’s being caught up to the third heaven has been debated here before. My take is that our atmosphere is the first ‘heavens’ the Bible speaks of; the second heaven is outside of our atmosphere and encompassing the whole of the Universe, all of which will pass away and become new; the ‘third’ heaven Paul is speaking of is that spiritual realm outside of our three-dimensional space and time. There may well be higher levels of heaven, as Enoch so indicates and Jesus also says that there are many dwelling places there.
My point about any ‘morning star’ as rising with the Sun, may well be visible before the sun rises. However, as a morning star delineates TIME (as God intended) and seasons, the point at which it is rising exactly with the Sun, is sort of like the second hand on a clock meeting with the minute hand. Marking morning appearances of heavenly objects with the sun has been used since the beginning. The seasons of the planets, stars and moon or combination can demarcate time specifically. An object that is visible at the zenith at midnight, was most likely rising at SUNDOWN in the east and will set at DAWN in the west.
Now if the Hebrew day starts at sundown (marking also the end of the day), darkness lasting 12 hours and daylight, 12 hours (more or less) an ‘evening and morning’. Dawn is the middle of one Hebrew day, the beginning of ‘morning’ which lasts 12 hours (John 11:9) until the end of the day, ‘evening’. Does this indicate that Jesus (the morning star) will come just before dawn, in the middle (morning) of that last day (tribulation time period)? I’m not trying to say that Jesus will come back at 6AM, 6:15AM, etc. as that would depend just where in the wide world you lived ;-)
Rolleston’s work the ‘Mazzaroth’ (ie. Gospel in the Stars) while fascinating, I’m afraid a lot of it is purely speculative and has very slim basis in Biblical text. Of course I’m speculating as well regarding Dan. 8, but it is hard to ignore specific descriptions matching eons old constellation identifiers. Are there lots of 2-horned beasts in the mythical sky? A few, but only one by the ‘river’ in the sky (Taurus) and only one with a notable single horn (Capricorn), also by the river just across the whole earth from the west, exactly where the narrative describes as Daniel ‘lift’s up his eyes’.
One astounding thing about Saturn, right around the time of Jesus’ birth (6 BC or 5 BC) is that it hovered very near the vernal equinox just between Aries and Pisces. The vernal equinox also passed into Pisces from Aries (because of precession) in similitude of the ages phasing from the old sacrificial system under the law to the age of grace where a few fishes fed multitudes by the hand of Jesus!
Saturn is a very important time-piece for sure. Interestingly, 70 orbits of Saturn (10,758.975 days per orbit) falls on the 1290th morning rising (583.92 day average synodic period) of Venus.
(1290 x 583.92)/10,758.975 = 70.01 orbits OR 2,062.00 Earth years.
Thanks for your response!
In Christ,
