"Re: Ernie--RE: Chris M Sign of Jonah and the Witnesses"

Hello, John and Doves,

When interpreting an idiom, the first step is NOT to put the phrase in a Cuisinart, press "Pulse"
until you achieve a puree.

The fact is, an idiom is entire and indivisible, regardless of how many words comprise that idiom.

So, then, we observe that "three days and three nights" is actually a Jewish idiom.

As such, it simply means 3 days, the end and/or the beginning of which time period may be a part of a day.

This is possible, because a "day" is strictly counted from sundown to sundown.

Keeping all this in mind, we remember that Our Lord Himself said, speaking of Himself,
"...[T]he third day He will rise again."  Mark 10:34

Now, the secret meaning of the Greek word translated, "third," is, quite simply, "third."

Putting all this together, and since we know that Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Lord, died at the ninth hour of the day[light],
we can see that there were yet three hours on the day He died yet to be counted in any accounting of days.

If He rose on the first day of the week, a Sunday, then some part of Sunday must have transpired in order to qualify
His resurrection on a Sunday.

This means that He must have died on a Friday.

All Fridays were called, each one, "Preparation Day."

This is because you had to cook on the day before the Sabbath whatever you planned to eat on the Sabbath.
Please read Exodus, chapter 16, verses 23,25,26, and 29.  Then, please carefully read Exodus 35:3--
[the LORD speaking to Moses] "You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day."

Now, look at Leviticus 23:5--
"On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD's Passover."
The question is, "Was Friday also the Passover?"

This is, to this day, open to interpretation.  Some believed that when the 14th of Nisan started, at sundown,
that was Passover.  Others said, "No, you have to wait until the 14th is almost over; then you celebrate Passover.

The scripture is not clear.  As a result, we do not know the exact Jewish dates of these events long ago.
We also do not know exactly how long Jesus was in the Tomb, or yet even, how long His body was lifeless.

If we knew either one, we could figure out exactly when the Church Age ends, by converting hours to Jubilees.

Suffice it to say, then, that we really should be looking at the Signs of the Times that we are in.
Not for ourselves do we look, but so as to witness to unbelievers.

We know Jesus is coming soon, because He speaks to His Bride directly, through the Holy Spirit.

Keep looking up,
Mike C.

"RE: Chris M "Sign of Jonah and the Witnesses""

I must disagree with you. The Lord told EVERYONE he would be dead and buried for 3 days and 3 nights then rise again thus fulfilling that prophecy himself. In fact he and others were seen for a few weeks after before going home. there was no secret. The 2 witnesses are not part of that no where does it indicate that they have any part of that prophecy or that they will spend anytime in the belly of the earth there is no need or purpose for them to do so.

The rumor that his disciples stole his body from the tomb was started because they did not want people to believe that he rose from the dead. It wasn't started by him or his Disciples to hide the fact he did rise.

Also the lord died on Wednesday not Friday. Saturday was the Sabbath (The Lord's Holy Day), Sunday is not the lords Day it is the church’s day (Church made Sunday some kind of holy day) Sunday was/is the first day of the week.

Keep looking up
