Governor Patrick Quinn has stated that Illinois intends to pass "Civil Unions" by the end of the year.  I have it on good source information that there is a strong chance that they will be able to lean on many possible lame duck Representative during the fall veto session after the election.  They have already gotten it through the State Senate and Quinn has said that he would sign it.  The belief is that representatives who loose their seats in the upcoming election will have no restraint on supporting such legislation.  It is extremely important that you contact your state representative (not Congressional) to let them know how you feel about creating homosexual marriage in Illinois under any label.  It is also important that we lift them and our State up in prayer so that this does not happen.  This is about righteousness and holiness.
 
Of special significance to those in Rockford is Representative Charles "Chuck" Jefferson who heretofore has opposed civil unions.  It is believed that he may be growing weary of continuing that position.  If any of you personally know Representative Jefferson you should contact him.  Likewise you should urge your congregations and Pastors to contact him and to hold him up in prayer.
