Genesis 10:25

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one [was] Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name [was] Joktan.

Most scholarship I have read believes this passage refers to the Tower of Babel where the languages were confused and so men divided across the face of the earth................

 

there is also no record of another hugeworld wide cataclysm after the flood
