"re sad"
It is not surprising that few professing Christians
actually know anything about what they pro port to believe. As
God himself said, there will be few who enter through the narrow
gate. I have a problem with that article in that it talks about
asking an atheist about contradictions in the Bible..THERE ARE NO
CONTRADICTIONS.
Living among the mormons and witnessing to them,
it may seem that they know their Bible, but as with the Jehovah's
Witnesses and the other cults, what they know has been so distorted
that it is not relevant to salvation. The whole reason, in my
opinion, that these cults are seeing such a boom is that people do not
read their Bibles for themselves, they do not study God's word or pray
for understanding, so they are washed away on emotion as soon as they
get a "feeling" that seems good to them.
2 Peter 3:3-9 (New International Version)
3First
of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come,
scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, "Where
is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything
goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." 5But they
deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and
the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also
the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7By the same word the
present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day
of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
2 Timothy 3:5
New International Version (©1984)
having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
New Living Translation (©2007)
They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
There is also the verse that says they will seek to have their ears tickled and reject sound doctrine.
So
while it is sad that we have reached this point, it just means there is
much work to be done, and the workers are few. And also you should make
sure of your own election and calling.
Looking up,
Jill
