I am a lurker, but felt I had to say something about Jeanne's post on Puzzle of the Magi:

"...It is a star rather than a planet and thus rises in the east whereas the sun, moon and planets rise in the west..."

Sorry, but due to the Earth's rotation, everything rises in the east and sets in the west, as seen from the surface of the earth.
