"Regarding not celebrating halloween"
I must speak in favor of not celebrating
halloween. I can honestly say this is the first year we will not
be handing out candy. The Lord did not deal with me about this
until this year, so I can understand why some see no harm in
celebrating "just without the evil edge to it". But we each must
be accountable to what has been spoken to us by the Holy Spirit, and
G-d has truly convicted me of not participating in the traditions of
men this year. Our church is having their annual Hallelujah
Harvest where we decorate our trunks and give out candy to local
children. It is not actually on halloween this year. The
ONLY reason I participating is because I always have a Biblical
theme to my trunk. This year it will be "as in the days of Noah
etc." - something I think needs to be stressed tremendously at this
time. I am not even decorating with pumpkins on my porch this
year. My children are dressing according to our theme and helping
me with our trunk, as they usually do. If it were not called the
Hallelujah Harvest, I would not feel so comfortable. As a newbie
at celebrating G-d's feasts, it seems the fall ones are about
celebrating the harvest.
In regards to the fellow
who responded that his sons are pastors and celebrate halloween, just
know that our pastors are our leaders and are accountable for how they
lead the sheep. I can attest, though, that everyone is not in the
same place spiritually at the same time. G-d deals with us in
each are of our life, it seems, when we are most ready to hear it.
No hard feelings, just conviction to share at the expense of ruffling feathers,
Corey Anne
