"The New Jerusalem / ICR Creation Science"
Below is a beautiful, encouraging article from
ICR (Institute for Creation Research). It includes part of
my favorite Bible passage, Rev. 21:3-4.
Most of you know that
science is part of my background. It has been a blessing and a
curse. Back in the early 80's when I returned to Christ, I found
it difficult to believe the Bible again, especially miracles like the
Ressurection. After I prayed about it, I came across my first
article on the Shroud of Turin. I have been a "shroudie" ever
since, and most importantly, my belief in the Resurrection is strong
"beyond belief"!
Recently I prayed about the whole
Creation issue. If I can believe in the Resurrection (Christ's
physical body moving from one dimension to another) then it helps me to
believe in Creation. Because during Creation, the created things
moved in the opposite direction--from the dimension where Christ's body
is now, to the dimension in which we live. If God can
supernaturally move matter in one direction, He can move them in
another.
HOWEVER, I still struggled with the age of the
earth and the OLD radiocarbon dates that science gives us for
dinosaurs, etc. So I prayed about it, and came across the website
www.icr.org. The Institute for Creation Research believes in a young
creation according to scripture. You might want to direct your
scientific, unbelieving, loved ones to this website, and perhaps buy
them a magazine subcription for a Christmas gift.
I just
received my first issue of their beautifully illustrated magazine "Acts
& Facts". Two articles in particular were of interest to
me. We all know that soft body tissue decays rapidly, and after
millions of years IT SHOULD BE DECAYED OR FOSSILIZED. This
magazine (Vol. 38 No. 10) decribes two different specimens that should
have been too old to have soft body tissue. The first was studied
in the 1990's and NUCLEATED CELLS were found in dinosaur bones. The
second was reported in August of 2009, when English researchers found
an intact ink sac in a squid that should have been 150 million years
old.
Why don't these findings make headlines?
Because both science and the news organizations filter out what will be
published. If the research doesn't fit their evolutionary, old
earth, concept, they even penalize the scientists that dare to print
their findings. I saw this personally with the Shroud this year
when "half baked" research, from atheist backed scientists, got global
coverage, yet the real, late breaking science from the 2008 conference
got little or no coverage.
What can we do about it? PRAY, FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, and REJOICE.

"But
be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I
create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy." (Isaiah 65:18)
Here
is a remarkable act of creation! The verb "create" always has God as
its subject, and it would surely require the divine Creator to "create
Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy!" Jerusalem throughout her
history has been a city of conflict and sorrow, and her people have
suffered under oppressors longer than any other nation, not only in
Jerusalem (meaning, ironically, "city of peace"), but all throughout
the world.
The ultimate fulfillment of this striking
prophecy can only be when we (like John in his vision) see "the holy
city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a
bride adorned for her husband" (Revelation 21:2). In that day, "God
shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
If
there is no more sorrow, there can only be rejoicing; if there is no
more death, there will be eternal rejoicing, just as our text assures
us. This will be our everlasting home, so indeed "her people" will be,
in their new creation, "a joy" forever.
Since the New
Jerusalem will come down from heaven, it is now in heaven, where Christ
has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:2). Our Creator/Redeemer
has created this new Jerusalem as our eternal dwelling place, as well
as the new heavens and new earth.
Isaiah then ends his
remarkable prophecy with this wonderful assurance: "As the new heavens
and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the
LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain" (Isaiah 66:22). HMM
